More Lenten Recipe Tips

Well folks as promised here is how I prepare Recipe Tip #3

3. Salt fish mixed with smoked herring, provisions and lentils
      Provisions

  • Well you clean or buy already cleaned salt fish and smoked herring, pour boiling water over them and chip them up with your fingers.
  • Cut up some onion, tomatoes and garlic to your liking
  • Clean provisions (sweet potato, yam, dasheen and cassava) that you like and put to boil, adding salt to your taste. When finish cooking cut up in cube size.
  • Put oil (olive or any vegetable) to hot, again the amount is based on how much you are cooking and how oily you like your food.
  • Place your seasoning in the oil to cook down, again cook to your liking
  • Place the salt fish and smoked herring to cook, then add the provisions and mix everything together.
  • You can also fry some plantain to add to your dish.
     Lentils

  • Put about half pot of water to boil, add salt and two cloves of garlic
  • Add cleaned (remove all small stones and wash) lentil peas, add some cubed pieces of pumpkin and grated ginger to your liking.
  • Add some coconut milk and a teaspoon off sugar
Let it cook and add water until the lentil is cooked again to your liking (some people like it hard some like it soft, lol)

Serve and do enjoy to the max and send some for me please!!
